Higher EDge Conference Boosts Partnerships for Workforce Readiness

Austin, Texas – More than 500 people attended the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board’s annual conference this week as Texas continues to foster partnerships for student success in every region of the state.

The Higher EDge conference was a great opportunity for attendees to discuss programs and ideas on strengthening higher education pathways from workforce certificates to doctoral degrees.

More than 60 panelists spoke in sessions on topics specific to this year’s conference theme: From Classroom to Career. Examples of sessions included college and career planning; programs that upskill and reskill Texans for high demand jobs; improving credit transfers across institutions; financial aid for first-generation and low-income students; and partnerships that help working adults and veterans access career-focused education.

“Our annual conference is a great opportunity to hear from a broad spectrum of partners who are critical to building Texas’s future workforce,” said Commissioner of Higher Education Wynn Rosser. “We invited students, higher education leaders from two-and-four-year institutions, policy makers, non-profit groups, and representatives from Texas industries to learn and network. Their valuable input and exchange of ideas are all part of a collaborative effort that contributes to our higher education strategic plan Building a Talent Strong Texas.”
