Tuition and Fees Data

The tuition and fees data reported reflects the average amounts charged to resident undergraduate students enrolled in 15 semester credit hours (SCHs) per semester at Texas public universities. Amounts reported include statutory tuition, designated tuition, average mandatory fees, and average college course fees. A student’s actual charges may vary based on the student’s classification and level of enrollment, the college the student attends within the university, the student’s specific personal circumstances, or for other reasons deemed appropriate by the institution.

Tuition Rate for Nonresident and Foreign Students

As directed by Section 54.051(d) of the Texas Education Code, each year Coordinating Board staff calculates the tuition rate for nonresident students enrolled in Texas public universities, Texas health-related institutions, and Texas state colleges. (Exceptions include tuition rates for nonresident students enrolled in medicine, veterinary medicine, dentistry, and law. The tuition rates for those students are provided in other paragraphs of Section 54.051 of the Texas Education Code.)

A description of the nonresident tuition rate calculation for various years and a copy of the relevant statute may be viewed by clicking on the links below. This information is not applicable to TSTCs (Texas State Technical Colleges) or Texas public community colleges.
