Texas Core Curriculum (TCC)

The Texas Core Curriculum (TCC) is established in the Texas Education Code, Chapter 61, Subchapter S. Coordinating Board rules are in the Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 4, Subchapter B.

Core Curriculum List of Courses

All public institutions have an approved list of courses as part of their Texas Core Curriculum (TCC). The TCC list of courses is approved annually for each academic year. Lists of courses are available at Texas General Education Core Curriculum WebCenter.

Core Curriculum Submission Portal

Texas public higher education institutions may change or make revisions to their TCC once a year. The request for changes must be made through the online portal available at the Core Curriculum Submission Portal. The change request for a given academic year must be concluded prior to the end of the academic year. The last day to submit a change request is August 31.

Assessment of the Texas Core Curriculum

The purpose of the TCC assessment is to improve student attainment of the TCC core objectives. Institutions may determine the format of the assessment results submitted to the THECB. The statutorily required report on an institution’s review and evaluation of its Core Curriculum is outlined in TAC 4.30. Assessment results may be submitted through Document Submission Portal for the Division of Academic Quality and Workforce of the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
