Fall Enrollment at Texas Colleges and Universities Sets Record
AUSTIN, Texas – October 22, 2025 – The Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) released preliminary numbers today showing more than 1.6 million students enrolled this fall at Texas colleges and universities — an all-time high.
The preliminary fall numbers cover undergraduate, graduate, and professional program students enrolled at two-year technical, state, and community colleges; four-year public and independent universities; and public and private health-related institutions.
Fall enrollment in all regions of the state increased over last year, with the Northwest and Upper East regions seeing increases of more than 9%. And for the first time since the pandemic, enrollment totals surpassed pre-pandemic numbers in each sector of higher education.
“The record enrollment numbers will help the state’s continuing efforts to build a talent-strong Texas and an increasingly educated workforce,” said Commissioner of Higher Education Wynn Rosser. “The collaborative work of state leaders, the THECB, and higher education institutions are geared towards helping our students advance in the rapidly growing Texas economy.”
