2021 Texas Higher Education Leadership Conference

Raising for the bar for higher education with a refreshed Coordinating Board

In 2021, the THECB expanded its traditional conference programming to unveil a new look for the agency and share progress on the state’s strategic plan for higher education. We also heard from workforce and education leaders including Lisa Gevelber from Grow with Google and Ruth Watkins from Strada Impact.

We also celebrated ten higher education institutions from across the state for demonstrating outstanding efforts in response to COVID-19. The institutions, recipients of the 2021 Star Awards, included the University of Texas at Arlington, Houston Community College, Texas A&M University Commerce, the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, Odessa College, the University of Texas at Tyler, McLennan Community College, Sam Houston State University, Texas State Technical College, and Lone Star College – North Harris.

In Commissioner Harrison Keller’s annual State of Higher Education Address, he outlined how Texas is raising the bar for higher education. The address provides insight into the hard work taking place at the state and federal levels, at the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, and by higher education leaders throughout the state.
