The Texas Transfer Advisory Committee (TTAC) has responsibility to advise the Commissioner on the Texas Transfer Framework, including the development and revision of the Field of Study Curricula. The TTAC may also request to form Discipline-Specific Subcommittees to assist in the development of a Field of Study Curricula. Texas Education Code Section 61.823 authorizes the establishment of this committee, and rules governing to this committee can be found under Texas Administrative Code Title 19, Part 1, Chapter 1, Subchapter V.
Texas Transfer Advisory Committee
Goal: The committee’s goal is to use a data-informed approach to support transfer students, and specifically to maximize transfer students’ ability to transfer and apply their courses to a major.
Charge: TTAC’s purpose is to advise the Commissioner and agency staff on the state’s transfer policy framework, including the development of Field of Study Curricula (FOSC).
TTAC’s work will include determining appropriate disciplines for FOSC development and convening Discipline-Specific Subcommittees of faculty experts to develop recommended lower-division curricula for transfer students.
TTAC is a statutory committee and its purpose is outlined in the Texas Administrative Code and Texas Education Code.
TTAC will require active engagement and participation in several meetings and may require travel to the Coordinating Board Office located in Austin, Texas.
The committee is composed of 24 members, with equal representation from public junior colleges and general academic teaching institutions. A majority of members are faculty who currently teach undergraduate courses and are engaged in transfer policy development. Other members include administrators who understand transcript evaluation and those actively engaged in promoting seamless transfer of students from a public two-year to a four-year institution.
In addition, TTAC will include an ex-officio student and an ex-officio academic advisor. TTAC members will serve staggered terms of up to three years and may serve consecutive terms.
The Coordinating Board will solicit nominations for membership from Chief Academic Officers of relevant institutions of higher education.
