Emergency and Trauma Care Education Partnership Program (ETEP) – Graduate Medical Education and Nursing

Intent

The Emergency and Trauma Care Education Partnership Program (ETEP), established in 2011 by the 82nd Texas Legislature, provides funding to support partnerships between hospitals and graduate medical education (GME) programs that increase the number of emergency medicine and trauma care physician residents and fellows (GME grants).

ETEP also supports partnerships between hospitals and graduate professional nursing programs to provide educational experiences in emergency and trauma care for registered nurses pursuing a graduate degree or certificate (ETEP Nursing Program grants).

Eligibility

Grant Cycle: 2026

ETEP – Graduate Medication Education (GME) Program:
A GME program or sponsoring institution, accredited as a post-Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) non-military residency or fellowship program, that prepares the physician to earn a board certification by the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialties in EM, PEM, or SCC.

ETEP – Graduate Nursing Program:
An accredited graduate professional nursing educational program of a public or private institution of higher education that prepares students for a master’s or doctoral degree in nursing with a specialty focus in emergency/trauma care or prepares nurse practitioner students to earn a post-master’s certificate in emergency/trauma care.

All submittals must be complete (inclusive of required signatures, acknowledgments, required attachments, etc.) and received by the posted due date. Incomplete and late submittals will not be considered for award.
