New Provisions for Plumbing Instruction and Licensure

Texas Legislature, (Regular Session) includes provisions that allow a person who successfully completes a sequence of courses in the plumbing trade offered through a high school’s or institution of higher education’s career and technology education program to apply for and take an examination for a license as a tradesman plumber-limited license holder.

The Texas State Board of Plumbing Examiners, following consultations with school districts, higher education institutions, employers and state agencies, has outlined a five-course sequence leading to the tradesman licensure examination. All of the courses are in WECM. The courses are required to include classroom instruction as well as a hands-on component.
