The objective of this study is to experimentally investigate the aerodynamic performance and the complex flow field characteristics of three types of NACA 0010 airfoils with different leading-edges. A baseline model with smooth leading edge, tubercle-leading-edge, and curved-tubercle-leading-edge airfoils will be studied in both static and pitch/plunge configurations. Experiments will be conducted to investigate the effects of pitch rate and motion time history, and to determine the persistence of unsteady effects. Force, moment and velocity field data using Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) will be obtained.
