In this proposal, we focus on developing a new class of exceptional points in non-Hermitian systems that have topological robustness. We extend the notion of topologically robust exceptional points into the spatiotemporal modulated lattices and propose a new application of exceptional points in the generation of higher harmonics. Specifically, we will develop a theoretical model to study robust exceptional points and their effect in a scattering system. We then design a discrete system to obtain robust exceptional points in one and two dimensuions. We then study a four-level system composed of Rb atoms to realize robust exceptional points in a dynamically modulated system for the creation of higher harmonics that are not affected by the errors in the fabrication of the system, namely a robust harmonic generation against disorder. The ultimate goal of this proposal would be the understanding of the fundamental physics behind non-reciprocity, non-Hermiticity, and topology in one framework.
