The goal of these four sessions will be to increase awareness in the ICSTLL community of new frontiers of language documentation, archiving, language data analysis, and description. By encouraging established researchers and language documenters in training of the ICSTLL community to consider the benefits of comparable IGT, annotation standards, and metadata, we aim to create resources to use the linguistic analysis embedded in IGT to improve NLP systems, and use computational methods on the harmonized IGT to improve analysis. UNT has the infrastructure to host language collections in the newly developing Computational Resource for South Asian Languages (CoRSAL). UNT also has a computational linguistics and linguistics community of faculty and students working on issues of endangered languages who will guide the discussion and follow up with projects and dissemination.
