Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Experimental Investigation and Design Method of Cold-Formed Steel Joists with Edge-Stiffened Web Openings

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: American Iron and Steel Institute

Program Title: N/A

The main research objective of this project is to conduct flexural tests on representative CFS joists with edge-stiffened holes to verify the design methods proposed by Yu (2012) and Grey and Moen (2011). If needed, modifications will be developed on those existing methods to support a provision ballot for AISI S100. The scope of work on this project will including the following: (1) Full scale flexural tests on non-proprietary cold-formed steel C-section joists which have edge-stiffened holes on the web. (2) Verify and if needed modify the flexural design method proposed by Yu (2012) and Grey and Moen (2011) for the CFS joist with edge-stiffened holes. (3) Develop provision ballot of flexural strength of CFS joists with edge stiffened holes for AISI S100.
