Title of Contract, Award, or Gift: Response of Avian Communities to Prairie and Emergent Wetland Restoration at Riverby Ranch in North Texas

Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: RES Texas Mitigation, LLC

Program Title: N/A

Objectives: 1. Identify, enumerate, and sample the bird species using prairie and emergent wetland areas throughout the Riverby Ranch site following initial habitat restoration. 2. Document population trends and abundance of bird species relative to an unrestored agricultural reference site. 3. Compare the avian community supported by the restoration sites at Riverby Ranch to functioning natural prairie at the Caddo National Grassland or alternative site. 4. Examine quantitatively the habitat affinities of bird species at the Riverby Ranch prairie and emergent wetland restoration sites. 5. Provide documentation of all the bird species using the Riverby Ranch during this 2-year proposed MS project. This list of documented bird species observed and reported could then be published as a checklist, "Birds of Riverby Ranch Restoration Preserve" that could be made available to the interested public.
