Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education (CTE) Act grant funds are administered for the purpose of improving career and technical education in Texas. The Workforce Education division provides oversight of CTE associate degrees and certificate programs offered by Texas public community, state, and technical colleges.

Programs of Study work to align college and career readiness standards and career and technical education standards with the knowledge, skills, and abilities students are expected to demonstrate. Programs of Study incorporate multiple entry and exit points that include industry-recognized certifications, Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees, and credit transfer agreements between community colleges.
