As part of the 2020-2021 NASA MINDS Program, the Rocket Landers team from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) developed a framework for the design of rocket propulsion systems fro small scale Vertical Take-off and Landing (VTOL) vehicles that demonstrate retro-propulsive landing. A cold-gas thruster with vectoring capabilities was designed using this design framework of dynamic, and thermodynamic analytical models. Model results were validated with CFD and FEA computational numerical simulations. The final manufacturing specifications are to be used for the fabrication of the propulsion system prototype. which is going to be tested to satisfy mission requirements. Performance test results will aid in the further validation of the design frameowrk, adapt the mission requirements to fit the propulsion system prototype, and determine further improvement for implementation of teh propulsion system into the VTOL vehicle denomiated STICK-2.
