While there has been extensive research on understanding fluid flow in porous media, the majority of these have used complex porous media samples from outcrops or actual reservoirs, resulting in failure to account accurately for the fundamental impact of various pore parameters on fluid flow. There have been studies on the impact of fractures on fluid flow but have faced similar issues due to lack of control on fracture patterns and structural parameters. Hence, our study aims to create a controlled porous structure with the inclusion of fractures in order to determine the underlying mechanism controlling fluid flow in such porous structure networks, which will capture the impact of various porous structure parameters on fluid flow. As a result of this study, a comprehensive model will be developed that will accurately predict fluid flow in porous media and fracture networks. This will enable more accurate oil and gas production rate estimation from various pore structure reservoirs in addition to reservoirs with natural or induced fractures. Furthermore, this research will promote further research on strategies to generate porous structures, including fractures that maximize productivity from reservoirs.
