Note:

SAMs 1.2.1 Dr. Lin’s research project focuses on students improving their executive functions skills. Lin will collaborate with other researchers and practitioners to create an online AI-enabled, technology-enhanced, and learning science-supported platform to help students grades 3-12 (ages 8-18 years old) to learn about and improve their executive functions skills. The executive function skills include the abilities to pay attention, to organize, prioritize, and activate work, to monitor and self-regulate actions, to utilize working memory, to manage frustrations and emotions, to sustain effort, to solve problems, and to think from multiple perspectives. The following is a meta-level process flow: Scope and map the plan with existing collaborators in computer science, neuroscience, teachers, and learners, IDEATE the process and scope (through a design thinking process), Establish scalable design-based research measures, Create the prototype of the learning platform, Conduct design-based implementation research, Assess, evaluate, and scale the planned efforts
