Name of Granting or Contracting Agency/Entity: Shirley Ryan AbilityLab

CFDA: 93.000

Program Title: N/A

Note:

UNTwill be involved with developing the machine learning models used for fall detection and assessing them with in-lab and out-of-lab collected IMU data. His 2012 fall detection paper with Dr. Jayaraman is similar in principle to the initial static causal classifier approach to be implemented. The hidden Markov model-based strategy for detection will use tools from two previous HMM-related papers. The deep learning network will be performed using Google’s TensorFlow open source deep learning platform, which I regularly assign in two courses (COMP 379: machine learning and COMP 386: computational neuroscience). Dr. Mark Albert will work directly with members of the center for bionic medicine at the Shirley Ryan Abilitylab to implement these fall detection technologies to assess and improve the WOLK airbag belt.
