This research project will determine the significant VOCs emitted by the human body because of opioid consumption utilizing GC-MS analysis coupled to a Carboxen preconcentrator. The significant VOCs will then be analyzed to determine concentration differences of VOCs between different types of opioids ingested, allowing for concentration ratios to be calculated. Finally, a mini-mass spectrometer will be utilized to determine if the significant VOCs emitted can be detected and quantified.
