SAMS 1.1.1 We propose research that will collect the data necessary to develop informed research hypotheses regarding the ultimate and proximate causes of the quail decline in Texas. Specifically, our research objectives are to: 1) Compare domographic performance and landscape anributes of quail populations in southern Texas and northern Texas to identify key demographic similarities and differences between populations and 2) Document stakeholder perceptions, attitudes, and knowledge of quail via town-hall meetings conducted in southern, central, and northern Texas to identify region-speciflc proximate causes of the quail decline as well as incentives for, and barriers to, quail conservation.
